New Phenomenon in Japan–III
According to the Japanese media, the mouthpiece newspaper of Japanese Communist Party (JCP) (HP http://www.jcp.or.jp/english/), Shimbun Akahata [Daily Red Flag], increased its net printing to 12,000 copies in February (Sankei Shimbun 8 March 2011). This indicates that Japanese voters have begun to leave both the DPJ (Democratic Party of Japan) and LDP (Liberal Democratic Party), leaning towards the JCP. In the 1970s, the JCP’s newspaper had 3.5 million copies, the heyday of the Communist movement. However, the mouthpiece of the JCP has increasingly become popular among the Japanese youth in the 21st century (see New Phenomenon in Japan-I and II).
