Beijing Learning from the West

It is a well-known fact that Communist country does not care about advertisements.  For instance, Beijing has never publicly described its completion of the “Eurasian Railway,” starting in Liangyugang, via central Asian countries, to Rotterdam, Netherlander in the 1990s. It is not coincidental when President Hu Jintao’s trip to the U.S., the Chinese news agency Xinhua launched a video billboard in Times Square. The advertisement involves many celebrities including Jackie Chan (martial arts movie star), Yao Ming (basketball player), Yang Liwei (astronaut), Lang Lang (pianists), and Song Zuying (singer). The video played until 14 February 2011 running 15 times an hour, 20 hours a day (New York Times 18 January 2011). Now, the “Red” China is learning more value of capitalism than any western industrial countries.
