Sending SDF to Korea/Third-Class Politicians Only Provide the Third-Rate Policy-XIX

On 10 December 2010, Prime Minister Kan Naoto mentioned an idea for the world. “We are pursuing discussions with the intent that (Tokyo and Seoul) should make things certain to allow (the SDF) to conduct rescue operations in case of contingencies…. Even if we want to dispatch SDF (Self-Defense Force) aircraft in emergencies to rescue (Japanese), Japan hasn’t set the necessary terms with South Korea.  As {Japan and South Korea} have been increasing cooperation on security, I hope we’ll discuss this steadily (Yomiuri Shimbun 13 December 2010).” His comments have received mountains of criticism from opposition parties, including the LDP and SDP. Even some media in Japan suggest that Article 9 of the Constitution does not ban the use of armed forces and the law on the SDF to rescue Japanese nationals.
