The US. President, Barack Obama, made his first trip to Asia to attend the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit meeting in Singapore on 10 November 2009. The 44th president decided to make a 10-day visit to Japan, Singapore, China, and South Korea. Interestingly, three days before Obama arrived in Singapore, the Chinese President, Hu Jintao, visited Malaysia and Singapore, major countries in ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) on 10 November 2009. Once again, the Chinese took one step to visit ASEAN before Obama did.
