The Japanese envoy to Taiwan, Saito Masaki, made the claim that the island’s status remains “unresolved” when he gave the lecture in the college in Taiwan (see the blog on 14 August 2009). For months, Ma Ying-jeou refused to see Saito; as a result, Saito decided to quit and return to Japan. Imai Tadashi, Japan’s former ambassador to Israel and Malaysia, will be the head of the Interchange Association in Taipei. Will the Japanese right-wing learn some lesson from this?
