“Chimerica” Save North Korea-II/G2-IV

“Chimerica,” combining “China” and “American,” reflects a new geostrategic politics created by China’s unprecedented rise power in the global politics. The last time the media used the words “G2” was in the1980s when Japan emerged as the second economic power in the world. Today, after the G20 meeting in London (April 2009), the media began to use “G2” again to describe China and the United States (e.g., CNN News 2 April 2009). The term “Chimerica” was first raised in American academic circles in 2006. In January 2009, when former U.S. national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski visited Beijing to celebrate 30 years of normalized Sino-U.S. relations, the idea of “Chimerica” was floated again. During the presidential campaign, Brzezinski was an adviser to Barack Obama. Well, where is Japan, the second economic superpower in the world, right now? Once again, invisible Japan cannot lead during this financial crisis. Why? Maybe Japanese politicians should think about the reasons.
