Brainwashing Japanese Military Elites
Since the 1990s, Japanese right-wing radicals have created what is often referred to as an iron triangle: politicians-media-scholars, to poison the views of Japanese youth who were born after WWII. One way the Japanese right-wing politicians push their political policies and agenda is through the public education system which often uses right-winged broadcasts and propaganda written into comic and historical textbooks. Similarly, the Defense Ministry developed a nationalistic curriculum at the Joint Staff College. Through a series of lectures, according to Japan Times, a number of radical right-wing scholars were invited to give their historical views. Among them, Fukuchi Atsushi of Taisho University, Takamori Akinori of Kokugakuin University, hawkish journalist Sakurai Yoshiko, and Sakagawa Takato, a former Chief of the Joint Staff College. After Tamogami Toshio was fired from his position in Air SDF, some right-wing radicals came out to defend for Tamogami’s view of WWII. Vice Defense Minister Masuda Kohei is an example. The right-wing groups want to “balance” the history of WWII meaning that they want to rewrite and revise the Second World War history by beautifying Japan as “liberator” rather than “invader.” Is it possible for the Japanese right-wing radicals to overthrow the Tokyo trial?
