Americans Back to Asia-I
After the US lost the Vietnam War, Americans have been extremely careful in the acting in the Asian region. The 44th President of the United States broke this hesitance. During the Obama’s Asian trip in 2009, he made the first meeting with ASEAN + 1 since the Vietnam War by calling the US “back to Asia.” Why did Obama want to re-enter ASEAN? Will the US balance the power in the Asian region against China?

After growing up and studying in China and Japan, Dr. Suganuma went to the U.S. for graduate studies, earning master’s degrees at both St. John's University (in Chinese studies) and Syracuse University (in international relations) as well as a Ph.D. (in geography) from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
